Pastor's Blog: To me, TO LIVE IS CHRIST

Pastor David Reed grew up in Altadena, California.  He has served as a teacher and pastor for 39 years, having graduated from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska (1972), and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana (1983).

He began in ministry as a Lutheran Educator and Director of Youth at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont, Nebraska.  After ordination to the pastoral ministry he became a pastor in Illinois serving Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake ('83-'87).  From 1987 to 1991 he was the Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Indianapolis.  For twenty years he has been our pastor here at Grace, Auburn.

Pastor is married to his wife, Sue.  They are parents of four daughters, Christine Miller, Rebecca VanTol, Allison Wolf and Elizabeth, all of whom have served in church vocations, three as Lutheran educators and one on the Michigan District staff.  The Reeds are also very proud and grateful grandparents of seven grandchildren, Emma, Jacob, Nathan, Claire, Caleb, Hannah, and Leah.

Pastor's greatest joy is the Good News of Christ.  Along with our whole church, he believes our mission is to proclaim Jesus as Lord with sincere caring and without compromise.

Pastor has made presentations of various books of the Bible committed to memory, takes great pleasure in teaching young people and is intensely loyal to the Lutheran Confessions.

We have called him to be our pastor so that through the ministry of God's Word and Sacraments God may bless his people and others come to know and trust Christ as Savior.

Pastor Reed has said, "I count it the most wonderful blessing and humble privilege to be a pastor.  God’s love and pardon for all people through the cross of Christ is the greatest message to proclaim.  I have no greater joy than to minister God’s gifts to His people.”
